Thankful Five

Do you take the time to find things to be thankful for? I hope you do. I have found that by looking for something positive my days are lighter, and difficult times are easier to bear. Doing this has also allowed me to better see the little things that I am thankful for.

  1. I am thankful for music that inspires me and lifts me up.
  2. I am thankful for the prayers of friends, family, and people I do not know.
  3. I am thankful for the person who donated so much towards my domain’s hosting fees.
  4. I am thankful for healthy debates, and good conversations
  5. I am thankful for fun and giggles with family

What are you thankful for?

Thankful Five

There is always something to be thankful for! I believe this. Even on the days when I feel rotten, there is always something to be thankful for. The things that I tend to be most thankful for, are the little everyday things that we usually take for granted.

  1. I am thankful for the little things my dad has been doing – He figured out what kind of coffee I liked to drink and bought me some when he went to the store. I did not even ask him to.
  2. I am thankful mom seems to be recovering – sort of – from her latest leg surgery.
  3. I am thankful that I got to spend time with my son during the holidays.
  4. I am thankful for being able to carve out my own space in my parent’s house.
  5. I am thankful for being able to write.
  6. I am thankful for the conversation, and humor around the dinner table.

Thankful Five

It is the Monday after Christmas, and time for me to remind myself of the many things I have to be thankful for. If you have never taken the time to either daily or weekly write a short list of things to be thankful for, you really ought to give it a try. Doing this has made it so much easier for me to keep a positive attitude during circumstances that would have really devastated me in the past.

  1. I am thankful for friends and family who love me.
  2. I am thankful for snow – it was so pretty to look at when it was falling.
  3. I am thankful for the women in my family who have taught me how to be strong.
  4. I am thankful for my new purple Snuggie.
  5. I am thankful for new electronic devices.

Thankful Five

It is that time again…time for me to list five things I am thankful for. I have so much to be thankful for that I might list a few more than just my normal five.

  1. I am very thankful for an old friend – have not spoken with him for around 18 years – who has been so encouraging. He reminded me that I am a child of God.
  2. I am extremely thankful for these ladies – Margaret of The World As I See It , Angel of Angel Believes , Jacqui of Wacky Jacqui’s Designs , and a friend from My Hypothetical Divorce Even though none of us have met in real life, they have been encouraging, and supportive of me. I cannot put into words how much they mean to me.
  3. I am thankful for the ladies who are in my support group. They are beautiful inside and out.
  4. I am thankful for the time with my mother. It has been precious.
  5. I am thankful for the opportunity at having a new – and better – relationship with my son.
  6. I am thankful for my generous and loving daughter in law.
  7. I am thankful for today.

Thankful Five

After having spent most of my life as a person who mostly saw the negatives of life, I discovered that looking at the positive side of things not only makes me feel good, it is also good for my mental health. Every Monday, I try – I am not always successful – to write down five things I am thankful for. I believe that it is important for me to do this even when things are going really well. It gives me something to look back on and use when my days become more difficult. Writing down things that I am grateful for when life is hard, helps me keep my focus on the positives of life. It also makes me less anxious and depressed.

Here are the things I am thankful for right now.

  1. I am thankful for a warm, and safe place to sleep at night.
  2. I am thankful for my little dog – Minnie. She seems to know when I am feeling overwhelmed by negative thoughts, and chooses those times to make me play with her.
  3. I am thankful for all the supportive people in my life – in real and on the internet.
  4. I am thankful for my counselor. She has been a huge encourager and teacher.
  5. I am thankful for Christmas lights. I have had so much fun hanging up Christmas lights this year.

Thankful Five

What am I thankful for this week?  Many things.  I have done more than my fair share of whining and complaining over the last few weeks.  I really need to reset my focus onto things that build me up.

Is there anything you are thankful for this week?  I would love to hear about it.

  • I am thankful for good friends on Twitter who attention to how I am behaving.
  • I am thankful for a husband who has been patient enough to put up with my extreme crankiness.
  • I am thankful for windows to open.
  • I am thankful for a psychiatrist that seems to care.
  • I am thankful for the beautiful fall weather.

Thankful Five

I am back home again. While I am happy to be home, I really would have loved to be able to stay at my parent’s house a while longer.  It was not possible for me to do that because of a Psychiatrist appointment I have this week.  Next week is full of appointments as well, blood work – again -, group, counseling appointment, and also an appointment with my medical doctor.  My daughter-in-law will be arriving in Augusta in about four weeks, so I am going to try and schedule my appointments in such a way that I can be there when she arrives.  She will be driving all the way from California – with her grandmother.  Mom and I had a brief discussion about having them over for at least one meal.  None of us have met her before and we were thinking it might be a nice low key way to get to know her better.

I realize that my Thankful Five is a day late this week.  However, we spent most of the day traveling yesterday and I was too wiped out when we got home to work on it.

  1. I am thankful that it seems as if the worst of the withdrawal symptoms seem to be gone.
  2. I am thankful that so far it looks as if going off of Effexor was the correct decision.  My blood pressure had been running around 183/128.  I took it before we left yesterday and while it is still high, it is significantly lower, 130/90.
  3. I am thankful that I felt good enough to walk several miles in the last few days.  For such a long time, my blood sugar and blood pressure were so high that I felt too awful to do any type of exercise.
  4. I am thankful for all the work my husband did while I was gone.  I came home to THREE new windows in the house, and also to a clean house.  He was incredibly thoughtful.
  5. I am thankful for being able to be thankful.  Everyday I am amazed that I am still alive, and I am constantly amazed at how much I have changed in a relatively short  amount of time.

Thankful Five

I love going places with my mom.  It is always an adventure of some kind.  It is not because she does anything particularly exciting, it is you have no idea how many places you may end up before you reach the final destination. Today, our four hour trip from Talking Rock, Georgia to Augusta Georgia took us about six hours.  We had some great stops though.

Our first stop was at the Animal Clinic where my brother practices veterinary medicine.  From there we spent an hour and a half in Costco.  We had great fun there, we picked out a couple cute little baby outfits for my granddaughter who is due in February.  Right after Costco was a quick visit to Steak and Shake.  I skipped the shake and watched with envy as my mother and daughter drank theirs.  On the South side of Atlanta, on I-20, we stopped at an official rest area, traveled a bit more and made it all the way to the Flying J. At the Flying J I bought myself a special $.50 souvenir key chain.  It has a section where the words “Love Jesus” flash, and it is completely solar powered.

When we finally made it to my parents house, I managed to stay awake 30 to 45 minutes, then I needed to get some sleep.  I am enjoying all this extra sleep.  It has been years since I have spent so much time in bed.

Time for this week’s Thankful Five

  1. I am thankful for being able to go to the family reunion on Sunday.
  2. I am thankful that I am being given the opportunity to relearn the importance of having a positive attitude.
  3. I am thankful that I am able to spend some time at my mother’s, and take some pressure off of my husband.
  4. I am thankful for some newly inspired ideas that are running around in my head.
  5. I am thankful for the interesting and varied things my mother and I talked about today.

Thankful Five

I did not do a Thankful five last week.  It was not because I was slacking, it was because I had so many appointments last week that when I did get home, all I wanted to do was sleep.  I guess that means I will have to list ten things today.  That is fine with me, I have loads of things I am thankful for.

  • I am thankful for being alive!
  • I am thankful for my wonderful family!
  • I am thankful to know the sex of my grandbaby, now I know to stick to the pink section.
  • I am thankful that I have access to free and awesome medical care
  • I am thankful that Autumn is getting closer and closer.
  • I am thankful for awesome people in my life, they are inspiring!
  • I am thankful for my computer.
  • I am thankful for my blog.
  • I am thankful for finding happiness.
  • I am thankful for finding a purpose for my life.
  • I am thankful for the people who read my ramblings on my blog.
  • I am thankful for the people who teach me things.
  • I am thankful for the people who let me teach them things.
  • I am thankful for Cherry Coke Zero!!!!

I know that was more then ten, but I did say I had so many things to be thankful for.
