I Love My Blog and I am Thankful for My Readers

It is hard for me to believe that it has actually been 10 days since the last time I wrote in the blog. This time last year, it felt like the only positive thing I had going for me was this blog. I spent all my time either thinking about it, thinking about what to write in it, thinking about who was reading it, or writing in it. My blog represented my whole world.

Do not get me wrong, I still love my blog. I still enjoy thinking about what to write in it, thinking about who is reading it, and I still enjoy writing it. However, my life is so drastically different than it used to be that it has become difficult to update it daily like I used to. In the beginning, as my life got busier and busier, I felt a little guilty for not updating it daily. I felt as if I was letting people down. Recently, I realized that just because I cannot update it daily does not mean I am letting anyone down. It is just that I have had to reprioritize the place that the blog holds in my life.

I love my little blog. I really believe that it has helped me, as well as the people I have met through it, get mentally healthier than I have been in my whole life. I am thankful for all of YOU who take the time to read it, comment, or give your financial support.

Trying Something New

With my computer I got some very cool voice recognition software.  So I thought I would try it out and see how easy it was to use.  It is actually fun software to use, but it is not as easy as I thought it would be to put my thoughts down on paper without writing them first.  However, I think if I practice enough I might end up dictating most of my blog posts.

One thing I like about dictating my  blog posts, is that it seems to be a more natural process of putting my thoughts down on paper the original way I thought of them.  Then later if I decide I want to change anything it is a very simple process to go back and edit them.  Maybe my posts will come out quicker if it seems more like an natural process to me.

There are many times when I’m writing a blog post that I get distracted and I lose a really next line good thought that I wanted to put down.  At least this way if I think of something I can go ahead and say it even if I don’t like how it looks. I then have the opportunity to go back and fix it before it before I forget about it.

Either way, at least it’s something new and exciting I can try out on the blog.

Mental Health Blogger Of The Week

Sugar Filled Emotions will be starting up the Mental Health Blogger of the week feature again. With everything going on in my life right around the same time I was doing the feature, I had to let it go. I am happy to be starting it up again, because I really enjoyed getting to know other Mental Health bloggers and seeing what they blogged about.

The Mental Health Blogger Of The Week feature highlights one mental health blogger for a whole week at a time. This gives us a chance to get to know them better, and also gives them an opportunity at a bit more exposure.

The following is an outline of what you will be seeing from the Mental Health Blogger of the Week.

  • Monday – The blogger of the week has two options, 1. answer a few interview questions, with a link back to their blog  or 2. to write a guest post for me to post on my blog, with a link back to their blog.
  • Tuesday – The blogger of the week provides me with a list of their favorite mental health sources – they will be used for Tuesday’s post – again with a link back to their blog.
  • Wednesday – Blogger of the week provides me a list of their favorite sources of inspiration, could be blogs, could be websites, newspapers, books, bible, they choose – they will be used for Wednesday’s post –  as always with a link back to their site.
  • Thursday – The blogger of the week provides me with a link to their personal favorite blog post.  Something they either did in the recent past or long ago. This will be used for Thursday’s post and there will be a link back to their blog.
  • Friday – strictly optional –  Does the blogger of the week have an easy meal that they like to prepare when they are having a bad mental health day, or just a bad day in general?  Or something so easy to prepare that even their husband and/or children could manage it?  Again this is optional, and there will be a link back to their site.

I will also highlight all Mental Health Bloggers Of The Week in the Sugar Filled Emotions newsletter.

If you are interested in obtaining more information about Mental Health Blogger of the Week, or if you are interested in being highlighted as a Mental Health Blogger of the Week please contact me using the form below I will be scheduling time slots immediately, so please be sure to reserve your week ASAP.

Name That Blog

There are a lot of fellow bloggers that come here, read what I have written and sometimes even leave a comment. I know that I have not visited everyone’s sites. I would like to remedy that, and add some more bloggers to my reader. You can help me accomplish this.

I have created a Mister Linky code for everyone to leave the URL of the blog. If you would like for me to visit your blog, and add you to my reader, please leave your link and also a comment.

Please note, spammers will have their links deleted.

Shameless Plug

I have been doing maintenance on my blog today.  For some reason my RSS feed quit working a few days ago, and I decided to fix it today.  It is fixed now.  I am not sure what was wrong with it.  I just did what I always do when fixing something, I started with the simplest thing, my plug-ins.  I deactivated all of them and then re-activated them each one by one.  I believe that there was some sort of conflict going on with one of the plug-ins, because once I did that, my RSS feed started working again.

The other bit of maintenance I had to do was to fix my fan page like button.  I figured out it was not actually a fan page but an application.  Not only that, but I had the hardest time getting to its settings to modify it.  I decided that it would be best to do away with it and put something much more simple and easier to maintain.

All this means I have a favor to ask….If you have already clicked like in my side bar thing, would you please do so again. If you have never clicked that like button, now would be a great opportunity to do so.

Go Wild Wednesdays

Do you have a blog of your own, but do not always feel free to vent the way you want because of friends and/or family reading it?

Maybe you do not have a blog, but would love a place to be able to speak your mind without the responsibility of maintaining your own site?

Let me introduce you to Go Wild Wednesdays!

You can have your very own spot, here on Sugar Filled Emotions to get what you need off of your chest. Some things you might want to vent about are family, friends, their reactions to your mental health issue/mental illness. Vent about your own issues, mental health, diabetes, asthma are just to name a few. Rant about your children making you crazy.  Even post pictures or graphics that represent something meaningful you.

Think of Go Wild Wednesdays as your very own personal soap box that will afford you a little more freedom than you might have on your own blog, real life, or in any social media outlet you are currently a part of .

If you are interested in participating in Go Wild Wednesdays, using your real name, fill out this contact form to let me know. Contact Me

Once you contacted me, we can decide if you want to use your real name for Go Wild Wednesdays or write under a pseudonym.

Posts with an over abundance of strong language, or contain racial or stigmatizing ideas will not be allowed publication.

I am looking forward to all sorts of creativity on Wednesdays!

Happy Birthday!!

Sugar Filled Emotions turns 1 year old today!

It is hard to believe that it has been a whole year since I started this blog.  So many things have happened and changed during this last year.  I am simply amazed at how much a part of my life Sugar Filled Emotions has become.  I have come to depend on it as a way to release what is in my head.

I appreciate all of you who read Sugar Filled Emotions.  Thank you for being a part of my journey.

In honor of a whole year’s worth of blogging, I thought I would share with you the first post I ever wrote. I have come such a long way from the person who wrote that post.
